In Cornwall the dramatic coastline and rugged countryside provide the backdrop for one of the widest ranges of adventure sports you will find anywhere in the country. Most of the surf resorts such as Newquay, Perranporth and Polzeath are on the wilder North coast, while sailing is more popular on the quieter, prettier south coast. Other water based sports include coasteering, kite surfing, kayaking, diving, fishing and wakeboarding. Wildlife such as birds, dolphins, whales, basking sharks and seals can often be spotted on the many boat trips that run on the Fal or Helston rivers or along the coastline.

There is much more to do as well though. For walkers there is the South West Coastal path, as well as wild Bodmin Moor. Cycling the Camel Trail is great for families, while for mountain bikers there are the many trails of Dartmoor. Climbing, mountain boarding, horse riding and golf are other popular sports.

A visit to one of the many seaside resorts can include some excellent shopping, with many of the shops stocking local arts and crafts as well as souvenirs and clothes. Both St Ives and Newlyn have loads of galleries and museums stocking art by local and international artists. Some of the local artists also run painting and drawing courses.
